Composit Structure

.jpg)
Steel is a structural element that helps a slender wooden block to stand stiff and stable. Steel cables and its tensile property has been used to build this pavilon.
Column Design

Concept :
The idea of stiffness a slender wooden block was tried to achieved by using steel cables and wooden interlock, where tensegrity of steel is seen. Various iterations of the cables with the block were made.

Wooden interlocks
Two wooden pieces have two grooves respectively that interlocks with the other

Steel ring and cables
Steel ring is attached at the top of the block, so that steel cables could be anchored well

Module :
The physical mode shows a column standing with the help of steel cables anchored to the ground at four points.
Process Design

Overall Pavilion :
Stage 1 (Process) : Steel cables attached at the top of every column that connects a column with another forming the roof fails, as the column will experience an anti-gravity force which will inturn disconnect the anchored column.

Stage 2 (Final design) : Wooden slender beams would connect each column and steel cables would be attached to the ground as shown below.
